The idea of writing an opera "Eugene Onegin" originated with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in spring 1877 . By the time the composer was 37 years old, and he was a very famous composer in Russia and gradually began to conquer Europe .
By the time Tchaikovsky created the ballet "Swan Lake" , a piano cycle "The Seasons" , the first piano concerto and many other masterpieces .
And now , being in search of a plot for an opera , Tchaikovsky once met his friend, Lizaveta Andreevnoj Lavrovskaya . She gave him the idea that the basis of the plot can be put famous Pushkin novel in verse .
